Challenge

The challenge is for we preachers to read and communicate the biblical texts in a fresh way.

We have to learn to read fresh the Word of God. When we come to a passage we have read and taught many times, we need to read it in context with eyes that see the text as if for the first time. We have to allow ourselves to think through the text in new ways. The text has to find its way into our soul and ignite real passion in us.

Once we have worked through the text, we have to communicate the text, insight and passion to our congregation.

But how do we maneuver out of the tired patterns of reading and preaching we have practiced for so many years? How do we awaken both preacher and people to the Word of God, living and active?

It can be done. The potential is there.
